This is the Story of the Sweathogs...
The Hogs have been around for ten seasons. Since their inception in 1994-1995 (when they were originally called the "Lions"), the Sweathogs have seen many faces come and go. However, the core has always been the Glenlawn-Churchill connection of Dennis Dare, Jeff Sinnock, Jason Mann, and Cade Arason. There are ten members on the roster this year, but over twenty if you include "honorary hogs".

The Sweathogs first shining moment came in the 1995-1996 season, in which the Hogs defeated the Running Rebels in the championship game to take the league title in only their second season.

...and the prophecy comes true! This past August, on the evening of his wedding, Cade Arason (long-time Hog) stated, "After seven years of rebuilding, the Hogs are due for a championship next year." Truer words were never spoken. On March 25th, 2003 (less than a year after this bold prediction was made), the Sweathogs were once again crowned Champions, this time at the lofty heights of Division 4!  In 2004 the Sweathogs once again ruled the roost through much of the season, only to see their dreams of a repeat crushed in a loss in the league final of Division 3.

Remembering those who are no longer with us...
Some are playing with other teams now. Others have moved on to other sports. And some are just out of shape and can't keep up with the Sweathogs of today. It's hard to believe that any man could walk away from such a great bunch of guys (not to mention the groupies outside the locker room after games). Whatever their reason for walking away, here is a list of "Honorary Hogs" who have written their page in Hog history:

Scotty "The Tower" Couke -Scotty is the only Hog with an official lifetime membership. We always have a spot on the team for Scott. Come back soon.
Dave "Lefty" Block -Dave played for many years with the Hogs. We miss his baseline jump-shot.
Brad "Flintstone" Nechwediuk -Don't let his size fool you; he is amazingly fast. The Hogs lost Brad to hockey.
Jeff "The Game" Cuff (REACQUIRED 2003-2004) -Jeff was the first Hog to make it into professional basketball. Actually, Jeff was the only Hog to make it into professional basketball.
Kelsey "Big Dawg" Mackay -Kelsey's slow motion lay-ups shall be remembered forever.
Mike "Drago" Tinholt -This gentle giant brought the Hogs some height and rebounding for a couple of seasons. Too bad he defected back to Russia.
Mike "Little Bro" Klassen -Mike only played for one year, but he brought much needed youth to an aging Hog squad.
Abdullah "Mr. Sub" Ayed -Ab will always be remembered for his outside shooting (Dennis was thankful when his main competition left the team).
Matt "The Sponsor" Blewitt -Thanks again, Matt for bringing down the cost of playing for one season. Matt paid his dues, then only showed up to one game!
Nopes "Tiny Hog" Kousonsavath -Nopes showed us all that you don't have to be big to play basketball. Just damn quick.
Rick "The Fighting Irishman" Mayberry -Ricky played for the first two years, when the Hogs were the Lions. We lost Rick to...well, we're not sure where Rick is.
Lloyd "Rugby" Rana -Lloyd played for a year with the Lions. He's a great teammate and a great friend.
Scott "Homey" Klassen -This Scott only played with the Hogs for one year. Barking out orders to "give him the rock" wasn't good for team chemistry. Yo Yo Yo!
